Montecastello di La is located near the village of Spigno Monferatto in the Piedmont region of Northern
Italy. A beautiful village with small shops for daily shopping but also a nice family restaurant.
Many authentic Italian villages in the area with almost all of them have a restaurant or
osteria where you can enjoy the Piedmontese cuisine during a delicious pranzo (lunch) or cena (dinner)
to enjoy.
The beautiful Ligurian coast is an hour's drive away, ideal for a nice day at the beach.
Close to the beautiful town of Acqui Terme (25 km) Asti and Alba (55 km) and a little further the major cities
Genoa (100km) Milan and Turin (150km).
Piedmont
The Piemonte is a region with a beautiful rolling hilly landscape, forests and hazelnut fields alternate with neatly styled vineyards and authentic villages.
The wines from the Piemonte are world famous. For example Barolo and Barbaresco, but don't forget the delicious Barbera and Cortese wines.
It is also the region of good food and also the cradle of “slow food”. But the Piemonte also has a lot to offer in the cultural field.
In short, a region to be discovered
Acqui Terme
In Acqui term you can feel and see the rich history of this pleasant town. The Romans had their important thermal baths here, of which the original baths (in a modern jacket) are still in use and can also be visited.
The center is also beautiful, with the Bollente with its thermal water of a constant 74.5 degrees as the heart not to be missed.
Its main shopping street Via Roma surrounded by many small streets with shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Absolutely worth it.
Alba
In Alba you can enjoy the truffle almost all year round. In the spring/summer you can enjoy the black truffle and in the autumn and winter also the white truffle.
Besides being the truffle capital of the Piedmont, Alba has much more to offer. A beautiful historic center with many shops, restaurants and wine bars and the center is nice and car-free.
In the autumn, the annual famous truffle fair has become an internationally important affair.

In Asti you will find the world famous Palio, this race is held in September and is a traditional festival. There is racing on bareback horses in the center, through the different neighborhoods and also through the surrounding villages, all with their own favorite riders. Truly a spectacle.
Asti is also fun to visit outside of September and definitely worth visiting the Cathedrale di Asti, which is located slightly outside the center and of course the Torre Troyanne, from where you have a beautiful view.
Turin
This and the beautiful museums such as the National Film Museum and the National Automobile Museum make it very worthwhile to stay here.
Milan
Milan, the second largest city in Italy, the capital of Lombardy, is much more than just an important fashion city.
In short, a very interesting and lively Italian city.
Genoa
Birthplace of Christopher Columbus. The port city of Genoa is the fifth largest city in Italy with an impressive old center and history dating back centuries.
It seems as if you are going back in time in the small streets / alleys where restaurants, shops, etc. crowd to be visited. On the main square Piazza de Ferrari are the Palazzo Ducale and the Teatro Carlo Felice and not far from the birthplace of Columbus La casa di Colombo.
Genoa also houses the largest European aquarium. Another special place is the Cimitero Monumentale di Staglieno, a cemetery the size of a village with entire neighborhoods for people of different origins.
Without naming all those other sights, highly recommended for culture lovers.
